Gaming
Currently the games I am playing are Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Team Fortress 2 and Toontown Online. I've played a variety of other games' demos lately like Left 4 Dead, EVE Online and Call of Duty 5: World At War.
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars by Splash Damage is a FPS game based in 2066 when the Strogg invade Earth which sets up a global defense force (GDF). The game requires you to complete missions, by using classes such as a Covert Ops/Infiltrator, Soldier/Aggressor, etc.) that award experience points/ranks and upgrades that stay for the campaign which consists of 3 maps played consecutively and are all based on one continent or islands near the continent. The game is not like "Halo" or "Call of Duty" where the only way to win is by killing; in Quake Wars you are required to complete main missions such as hacking a shield generator, destryoing a train, and constructing a bridge. There are other missions called side missions that allow you to gain experience points, but they do not give as many experience points as a main mission. These would include things like taking out a turret either by destroying it or by hacking it or blowing up a sewer grate to gain another point of entry.
Team Fortress 2 by Valve is a cartoon style shooter that is also humorous. The game consists of two teams, Team Red and Team Blu(e), with Blu normally attacking while Red defends. After each round, the teams switch sides and try to see if they can beat the points the other team got, either by pushing a cart or by capturing control points. If the game ends in a stalemate or a tie, there is a sudden death mode that is started. This game is a lot like Quake 3, except instead of picking up the weapons you have classes you choose from like a rocket launcher Solider or revolver-wielding Spy. You can not pick up any of the weapons dropped by other players to use, but you do get ammo for walking over them. Very few, if any, maps contain vehicles other than the carts/payloads which can only go on a track and are unable to do any damage to players.
ToonTown Online is an massively multiplayer online role-playing game by Disney created for children and families to play together. The game, while created for younger players, has drawn in a lot of older players. Toontown Online takes place in a 3D world where players choose from a variety of animals (Toons) to play as. These Toons can train "Gags", which are the game's weapons, play Trolley games and other minigames, have and decorate an Estate, fish and battle the evil Cogs who are trying to take over Toontown. You will encounter many Disney icons, such as Goofy, Mickey and Minnie while in Toontown Online. The game also is continually updated to include new content, such as Cog Headquarters, "Kart" racing and mini-golf.
Some other games I have tried demos or betas for are Left 4 Dead by Valve a post-apocalyptic zombie shooter which pits 4 players against a horde of Zombes, Call of Duty 5: World At War by Treyarch is the next game in the series of Call of Duty. This game goes back to World War 2, but it includes features such as upgrades, ranks, and other things from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The last game I have tried recently is EVE Online, a space MMORPG that lets you be a variety of different things like a business leader, a military leader, or even things such as scientists.
